The college I chose was Texas Lutheran University because it was a small private school close to home. Also the university has high ratings for their Athletic Training program, which is the primary reason why I chose this. I’m a little concerned about how my university will help me to learn to make a living. I know that they will help me to obtain the skills and knowledge needed in order to get the job that I want. Other benefits of having the college education as stated in Charles Murray’s Article, is that I would have more of a chance getting the job I want then those who do not.  If I could have a well-paying job without a college education, I would still go to college just to have the experience, also because as Owen and Sawhill stated, “additional education improves overall well-being”. That’s what I seek to do during my time here at Texas Lutheran University.

  1. I admire the fact that you took into consideration of your college location to your home, and see that you are interested into athletics. However, do you believe it is truly necessary to college experience to learn about athletics? I am not mocking you, but merely leading you to perceive your decision in another fashion.

    1. Also, I'm not too sure you should misinterpret college as a place to improve well-being.

  3. I myself have always seen college as a perfect thing for learning because think of all the people you'll meet and all the experiences you'll have!

  4. I've heard that Texas Lutheran University has a really good athletic program, so i think you're in good hands there. My personal opinion is that going to college is more often than not, a good investment for a career. Still, it depends on what you want to study, and in the future you may find better opportunities, outside of university to work better for you. Whatever the case is, I think that you will like attending TLU.

  5. Just a clarification: Athletic training is more than just athletics--it's an allied health care profession, which requires specialized training much like nursing. If you're interested in a career in the field, you MUST have an education from an accredited undergraduate program. Some even choose to pursue further education at the graduate level.

  6. Being able to choose a college that is close to your home is an amazing opportunity. I also inspire to earn knowledge and skill from attending TLU. Im also going to college for the experience, I believe that that learning how to react and work with others is an important part of going to college.
