Blog 3- Comics

I have never had much of a background with comic books. I have seen the movie adopted from the comics and seen numerous people read them. However, I have only read about one Batman comic… and you could hardly even say I’ve read it. More like skimmed through it and when it didn’t interest me put back on the self and went to the young adult novels.
This course has been the first real exposure I’ve had to the art of comics and I have really enjoyed it. I would never have picked up a comic myself and read it; however, now from reading McCloud’s Understanding Comics and Losh, Alexander, Cannon, and Cannon's Understanding Rhetoric, I have a new-found respect for this type of medium. I feel that, although they are unappreciated, comics would be a great way to get kids to love reading. They provide pictures as not to scare kids with; seven-hundred pages of straight words per say, but still have exceptional language that will increase a kid’s vocabulary. I plan to incorporate comics into my reading every now and again for a enjoyable and entertaining read!
