Reading, Writing, and Research in an academic setting
Due to my background in more advanced English classes, I believe that I have a decent ability to write good papers and will be able to do well in this course. As far as this class is concerned, I am good at writing papers once I have all of the information I need, because I personally do better at putting all of the information together. However, I do struggle sometimes at collecting it all and trying to wrap it around a single idea. The most difficult part about sitting down and writing essays is when I have a topic that I don't particularly like or that I do not have much prior knowledge about. This does make me hesitant about writing essays about articles or other documents that I had to read and did not understand what I had to write about. Overall, I feel confident about my writing ability and I know that there are many other talented students in this class that I can go to for assistance. I hope they feel that they can come to me for advice as well, because I love hearing other's opinions on different topics.

That's awesome that you have that confidence in your writing! I understand how you feel about having to sit down and write essays about topics you aren't really all that into. That's the hardest part of writing essays to me. From reading this though, it looks like you'll have no problem writing essays and that makes me quite jealous! I wish you all the luck!
ReplyDeleteI agree, writing about documents or topics that you are having a hard time understanding is a difficult thing to achieve. I have realized it helps when I conduct additional research (whether it be background information or details) and/or discuss the documents with others for different viewpoints as it sometimes allow me to see a detail that is essential to understanding the document.
