My Future

If I aspire to go to college, I plan on attending Rice University for their amazing facilities in medicine. My family has always studied in the field of medicine, so I guess in runs in the genes. I actually have a genuine interest for medicine as well. I'm not too concerned about how college will teach me to support myself; I can always learn that through self experience or experience from others. Charles Murray states from his article, Are Too Many People Going To College,"More people should be getting the basics of a liberal education. But for most students, the places to provide those basics are elementary and middle school". Besides teaching me how to uphold myself in society, I hope college will teach me how to work with others more effectively, or management (if I do go). However, if I do find a job that doesn't require college education with good pay, I'll take up the job, but go to college later on, now that I have the idea of work and money. Owen and Sawhill's article, Should Everyone Go To College, confirms,"
23- to 25-year-olds with bachelor’s degrees make $12,000 more than the average high school graduates, but
by age 50, the gap grows to $46,500".

  1. You have really high goals! I admire that. The medical field is tough and will take a lot of time and dedication. However, you have a family history of medical careers, so I'm sure they will have some good advice for you. I think that if I were to give you any advice, it would be to manage your time effectively, so that you can balance work, school and home. I wish you luck!

  2. I, too, have considered attending Rice University because of its elaborate facilities. I wish that I had as clear an interest in a certain field as you do, because that would make planning for the future so much easier. I find it interesting that you would still go to college with an acceptable job, but it does show your value in learning new things, like the essential core curriculum explored in Charles Murray’s Are Too Many People Going to College? If you do go end up going to college , I wish you luck in the laborious study of medicine.

Rice is a very large.name in the college industry, and I hope that you do get to go and get a large degree. Also, the medicine industry is really good right now so kudos to you liking something that everyone wants right now!

  4. Your goals for the future are high and I love that you want to follow in your family's footsteps in the fields of medicine. Rice is a big challenge by itself, and studying medicine will be a long road for sure, but achieving such a dream will without a doubt allow you to make your mark in society.

I think that it's really cool that you want to somewhat follow in your families footsteps and go into the medical field.
