I have never really taken an interest in English type courses. I have always been slightly above average and never the best. I had some pretty terrible teachers for English in elementary school. For example, after the fifth grade reading TAKS test I had a teacher get mad at me for getting a perfect score and accused me of cheating. Later on in middle school I had some good teachers which made me want to get into the higher level English courses. I don't I have ever done exceptionally well on any assignment. I am terrible at poems, because I don't like making emotional statements. I'm fairly good at reading assignments, because I have a good memory and take the time that is necessary to do things right like taking notes and asking questions while reading. While other people in my advanced classes read Spark Notes, I am actually reading the book. I hope to improve on my writing through this course and I know that in order to do that I need to put in my own effort.

  1. Well reading is a huge part of writing! Writing incorporates ideas and styles that you have read about and reading helps you with understanding the flow of writing. I find that in order to enjoy writing more I focus on the topic and like to envision that the paper is an extension of my mind and thoughts.

  2. It seems to me as if you don't have a lot of confidence in yourself Ben. You should keep on developing yourself, which it looks like you are. You have high hopes for success, and are quite adept in analyzing most literature. Keep up the good work!
