Coming from  the Round Rock High School AP program, I feel like I have a good back ground in writing. In my AP class, we read a variety of different pieces including The Crucible, In Cold Blood, and The Scarlet Letter. I believe that my experience in my AP classes has prepared me for this course. I am hoping to get a college perspective of a paper out of this class as opposed to the high school one I currently have. My best papers tend to be the ones I can connect with a personal emotional experience I have gone through. I struggle finding the correct ideas to add into my paper, because my mind comes up with too many, and I go into information overload on my papers. These two weeks, I want to be able to organize my thoughts in a concise manner and thoroughly explain my thoughts without over explaining.

  1. Those sound like interesting reads! I, too, would like to see what the expectations between a college paper and a high school paper are so that I may improve my writing by the time I go into college. Passion about a topic can help motivate you to complete a paper. I also have trouble organizing my thoughts, so I make sure to write out all of them, then remove or rearrange them later.

  2. I agree with the fact that advance placement classes do a great job in preparing students for college. I too read In Cold Blood and The Scarlet Letter, which were very interesting to me. I feel that organization can be very challenging to writer, especially with those who have a lot to say. I find it helpful to create an outline or diagram that can easily separate your ideas so you can actually see them clearly. Then chose the few with the most important information!

  4. Very great! I understand your concept of personal or emotional connection. This to me is important as well. I love to share experiences for others to essentially learn from. I find the books you have read very exciting. I hope soon in the future, I will get to read those great novels myself. Overall you seem like a very prepared person for this class and I cant wait to see what you have to offer to others.
